Thesis
The Master’s Thesis is completed during the third semester of the MEADS programme and carries 30 ECTS credits. It gives students the opportunity to apply the analytical, empirical, computational, and research skills acquired during the programme to a topic related to economic analysis, data science, applied economics, policy, or another relevant field.
After completing the second-semester courses, students prepare a preliminary research proposal and select a supervisor, subject to the supervisor’s consent. The proposal should briefly describe the thesis topic, methodology, and relevant bibliography. Thesis topics are approved by the Coordinating Committee (CC) and must be relevant to the programme and to the supervisor’s academic or research expertise.
The thesis is written in English and prepared under the guidance of the supervisor. Students are expected to maintain regular contact with their supervisor and report on their progress throughout the research and writing process.
Upon completion, the thesis is examined by a three-member committee, appointed by the Coordinating Committee, and is publicly defended. Before the defense, the thesis is checked for plagiarism/similarity using appropriate software.
The approved thesis is submitted electronically to the University Library and uploaded to the institutional repository. Submission of the final thesis is a requirement for the award of the degree.
